Food, Nutrition, & Body Image Therapy for Your Whole Self

Root to Bloom Nutrition Therapy provides anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming, and identity-centered care.

We provide virtual nutrition therapy to adults in California, Massachusetts, New York, Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, and Virginia.

Initial Session (75 min)

The initial session is about exploring your unique food & body story. We’ll explore topics such as:

  • The identities, values, and lived experiences that shape you

  • Your medical and mental health history

  • Current stressors and obstacles to your wants and needs

  • What your day-to-day eating patterns look like

  • How you feel in your body and your relationship with food

  • Goals for your relationship with food, movement, and self

  • How I can best support your learning, care, and healing

  • What you're hoping for in your nutrition therapy journey

Before we meet, you’ll complete a comprehensive intake form so we can start with a more complete picture of your story.

Follow-Up Session (60 min)

Ongoing follow-up sessions are adaptable and guided by your individual needs and goals. Together, we might explore:

  • Identifying and removing as many barriers to nourishing yourself

  • Support with grocery shopping or meal planning

  • Understanding and mapping hunger, fullness, & satisfaction cues

  • Processing your experiences around meals and eating

  • Building sustainable habits and strategies that support your overall well-being

  • Holding space to unpack food and body experiences in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment

We typically begin with weekly sessions to build a strong foundation. As you gain momentum and confidence, we may shift to biweekly or monthly sessions based on your needs and preferences.

Specialties

  • Root to Bloom Nutrition Therapy is trained in the treatments of:

    • Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

    • Anorexia Nervosa

    • Binge Eating Disorder

    • Bulimia Nervosa

    • Orthorexia

    • Other Specified Eating Disorder (OSED)

Eating disorders are complex, multifaceted experiences. They are shaped by a web of biological, psychological, social, cultural, and systemic factors that disrupt a person’s connection to self, body, and community.

Effective treatment requires compassionate and comprehensive care that addresses both the symptoms and the deeper disruptions beneath them, such as the loss of body trust, emotional dysregulation, and the lack of a sense of safety within the body.

We approach eating disorder care through a weight-inclusive lens that centers your lived experience. Our work will focus on restoring connection, rebuilding trust, and helping you to reclaim a more peaceful relationship with food and body.

  • Intuitive Eating is a non-diet approach to making food and health choices based on listening to and trusting your body. It’s about reconnecting with your internal cues—like hunger, fullness, and satisfaction—and honoring both your physical needs and emotional wellbeing, without guilt or shame.

At Root to Bloom Nutrition Therapy, we use Intuitive Eating as a framework for healing from diet culture, restoring body trust, and cultivating a more peaceful and empowered relationship with food. This work is about more than just eating—it’s about honoring your body’s wisdom, exploring the emotions tied to nourishment, and creating space for joy, flexibility, and care in how you take care of yourself.

  • Our experiences in our bodies—through culture, trauma, identity, and lived experience—deeply shape how we relate to food, movement, and our sense of self. Body image isn’t just about how we look; it’s about how we feel in our bodies, how safe we feel to take up space, and how much we believe we’re allowed to care for ourselves.

At Root to Bloom Nutrition Therapy, body image work means gently exploring the messages you’ve received about your body and deconstructing the systems—like diet culture, anti-fat bias, racism, ableism, and gender norms—that may have taught you your body is a problem to be fixed.

Together, we’ll work to reconnect you with your body’s inherent wisdom and worth so you can move through the world with more ease, self-trust, and a sense of belonging in your body.

Root to Bloom Nutrition Therapy provides holistic, weight-neutral, and evidence-based nutrition recommendations that center your overall well-being. Instead of using weight as a primary metric for health, the focus is on sustainable behavior and lifestyle changes. Using medical nutrition therapy and personalized strategies, we’ll navigate health concerns in a way that feels supportive and manageable.

  • For many folks, the idea of an “ideal” way of eating, moving, or living is inaccessible or unrealistic. Harm reduction, or harm minimization, can be defined as an intentional practice to lessen the negative symptoms or outcomes in our current experiences.

We like to ask: “what’s one small step we can take to feel just 1% better today?” because small, sustainable shifts make a difference, and improving our quality life here and now matters.

  • Performance nutrition supports athletes and active individuals in making informed nutrition and health choices that enhance training, recovery, and overall performance.

Root to Bloom Nutrition Therapy provides evidence-based performance nutrition guidance while honoring the complex relationship folks may have with their bodies and goals. We recognize that body- or outcome-based intentions are nuanced, and we support clients in exploring goals that are aligned with their values and rooted in meaningful self-connection.
